📰 Wave News
🏖️ Worthing Lido: A Seafront Favourite Set for Revival
There’s good news about the possible return of Worthing’s much-loved lido, with £1.29m now committed to essential structural work. It’s a big first step in protecting the historic building and setting it up for a long-awaited comeback after years of uncertainty. For us, the Lido is pure seaside nostalgia, although you need to be of a ‘certain age’ to claim to have have swum in it!
With the closure of Grafton car park the seafront area is in need of a lift, so along with the imminent reopening of the museum, and recent repair work on the pier; scheduled to by fully complete by the autumn, this is all positive news for the town. There’s more to do, but we can start to feel some optimism about the future of the lido.
🍻 Food & Drink: Worthing’s Scene Keeps Growing
Worthing’s food and drink scene continues to develop, with a ‘wave’ of new openings across the town.
In West Worthing, Hand Brew Co, who already own and run The Toad, are planning a new taproom and off-licence at their Worthing brewery. In Union Place, the former Macmillan’s is being transformed into The Next of Kin, a new venue from the team behind New Amsterdam and The Signal Post.
The Sushi Co recently opened on South Street, serving up ‘box-fresh made to order sushi’ and in Goring the operators behind Ferring’s Rassasy & The Snug and The Little Tipple, have plans for a new microbar, bringing their independent, small-venue approach to the area.
With the summer aorund the corner, we will bring you more News and Reviews from the Worthing Food & Drink scene.
💖Giving a little Back💖
Each week, we’ll be shining a light on a local cause that could really benefit from a bit of community support. This week, it’s dog adoption. Clymping Dog Sanctuary in Ford does incredible work caring for unwanted and stray dogs, as well as those whose owners are no longer able to look after them. They currently have a number of lovely dogs searching for their forever homes. Meet Boss

Boss
Boss is a two-year-old Lurcher cross Mastiff who’s been at Clymping Dog Sanctuary for over a year after being found as a stray.
He’s looking for a pet and child-free home with someone who can continue his training and keep him well stimulated. Boss is a big, energetic and playful dog with lots of love to give. He enjoys his walks, is very food-motivated, and loves a splash in the paddling pool in summer.
He is currently muzzled on walks due to reactivity, but this may improve outside of the kennel environment.
